SHIELD, training on H&S for Offshore Workers

SHIELD, training on H&S for Offshore Workers

The difference in weather conditions to work in the Offshore Industry in the North or Atlantic Sea or in the Mediterranean is enormous. In terms of Risk Prevention, currently there is no regulated training and common to all countries of the European Union for Offshore work so they are the same companies that recruit professionals who perform specific training.

Faced with this situation, the ERASMUS + “SHIELD” project aims to develop an initial training module for all workers who wish to start their offshore work and who also obtain the recognition of European professional qualification. This would mean having a recognized qualification in any country of the European Union that allows the best mobility of the workers and a better and homogeneous praxis among all the companies.

The start meeting of the SHIELD project “Development of a VET Training Program to upgrade the Skills on Health and Safety Risks for Offshore Construction Workers” was held in Limassol (Cyprus) on October 30, 2017. The 5 partners participated: I -Box Create (Spain), SHIPCON (Cyprus), Acta Center (Romania), PRIME (Holland) and PREVIFORM (Portugal). The project has obtained a total of € 165,420 from the ERASMUS + program, with a duration of 24 months. It aims to be a pioneer for companies, especially in the Mediterranean Arc, where national regulations are less strict than in the northern countries.

This project 2017-1-CY01-KA202-026782 obtained a score of 84 points, the development work of the proposal and selection of partners was made by I-Box Create.
