IBOX ATTENDS THE 2nd ENDURCRETE PROJECT MEETING

The 2nd EnDurCrete* Project Meeting took place on 18-19 July 2018 at the HeidelbergCement‘s facilities, in Heildelberg, Germany.

16 partners from 11 different countries are carrying out EnDurCrete, covering a wide range of work, ranging from laboratory tasks to field experiments, to sustainability and viability assessment, modelling or knowledge and results spreading, among others, in order to reach EnDurCrete objectives.

In this meeting, all partners made a summary of the work carried out since the Kick off Meeting in January 2018. Forthcoming actions and tasks for the next 6 months were also introduced.

During the 2nd day of the meeting, we had the chance to visit one of the best cement laboratories in Europe, those from Heidelberg Cement. We were explained among others that in the laboratories they kept old microscopes and sampling machinery because not always newer means better, and depending on what they wanted, old tools were more appropriated than new ones. But especially, they transmitted the passion for science and a strong commitment to knowledge.

We are back from Heidelberg with a lot of homework to do, but plenty of energy and with the conviction that the multidisciplinary approach of this project will help, with no doubt, to overcome the amazing challenge faced up.

*EnDurCrete is a newly launched research project supported by the European Commission under the Horizon 2020 programme for Research and Innovation (Call H2020-NMBP-2017-two-stage, Project No. 760639) which started in January 2018 with a duration of 42 months. The project consortium is led by HeidelbergCement and it consists of sixteen partners from twelve European countries (Germany, Italy, France, Spain, Norway, Switzerland, Slovenia, Belgium, Czech Republic, Hungary, Greece and Croatia). Six out of 16 partners are SME’s. Each partner has specific and high-value knowledge in all the scientific and technological branches that are necessary to meet the project goals.
